Manojlovački waterfall
Manojlovački waterfall (buk), the third, highest and, as they say, the most beautiful waterfall of the Krka river, is located nineteen and a half kilometers downstream from the source. The waterfall is about 500 m long and 80 to 100 m wide. It consists of a series of travertine barriers with a total height of 59.6 m, and the highest, last barrier, at the point where the river turns sharply from northwest to southeast, collapses from a height of 32.2 m.
The canyon around the waterfall is overgrown with sub-Mediterranean vegetation. There are beards, caves and half-caves made of travertine formations on the waterfall. Travertine barriers today, due to alternating drying and wetting, are mostly overgrown with moss. Water falls over the waterfall only at high water levels, when the waterfall shines in a palette of rainbow colors.
On the plateau next to a steep ledge on the left side of the waterfall is the prehistoric castle of Delmatian Burnum. Due to its control position at the river crossing, the ancient writer Pliny counts it among the “famous forts for battles”.
On the right bank of the river, harmoniously integrated into the environment, there are the remains of watermills as a testimony of traditional life and economy until the first half of the 20th century.
